This weekend it starts snowing Friday night and continues all through Saturday all day.  I want to leave Friday and spend two days in Colorado skiing, coming back Sunday night.

The Hill Stompers are playing in Durango as the official band of the towns snow-down festival.

So I'd like to lead a trip of people who want to go to ski Purgatory with this short notice arrangement.  Depending on response we can organize together sharing hotels and carpooling. And depending on ability we can see who can ski together as a powder hound group.

Cancelled due to lack of interest. I suspect the skiing is too good here at Pajarito.

Let's snowshoe in Black Canyon this Monday of MLK weekend. It will be an out-and-back, about 4 miles total and 1,000 ft elevation gain, to several vista points. Black Canyon is located near Santa Fe, on the road to the ski area, but well before it. The first half of the trail climbs gently. The second half is quite steep, and we might need to break trail.

We will meet at 9:30am at the entrance of the Black Canyon Campground, located on the right of the road, 6.9 miles from where Artist Road intersects with Bishops Lodge Road.

Let's do a XC ski in the Valles Caldera on Sunday January 7th.

I would like to do a 4-5 hour ski.  I'd like to start from one of the breaks in the fence, as you first drive down into the Caldera on State Rte 4 - but am not sure that the parking area will be plowed.  So, it may be possible that we start at Coyote Call, or that we might have to go all the way to the Visitor Center.  (the Caldera web page that the road will be plowed by mid day Friday, 1/5, but I know this is a goal, not a certainty).

Have you wanted to try out snowshoeing, but do not have the gear?  This snowshoe hike is for you.  This trip is co-sponsored with PEEC - and they have snowshoes to lend.  We will hike from the Pajarito Mountain Ski Area to Canada Bonito, north of the ski are - it is a 2-4 mile round trip (depending upon how far folks want to go).   There is a small participation fee for all.
