Because of too much ice in Water Canyon - this hike is being changed to a Blue Dot/Red Dot trail hike - with visits to petroglyphs near the trail.  This is between a 4 and 6 mile loop, depending upon how it is organized.  Claire Schappert is still leading - contact her if you are interested in coming.

Let's hike the Water Canyon/Ancho Canyon Loop, south of White Rock off of State Rte 4.

Technicality:  Intermediate: participants should be able to scramble over and down big boulders.

Difficulty:  Intermediate:  participants should be prepared to hike 5-7 hours.

We will carpool to the Lion Cave trailhead and proceed to the Water Canyon Trail.  After some hiking, we will bushwhack down the bottom of Water Canyon until we hook up with the River Trail.  Then we will follow the River Trail until we hit the Ancho Canyon/Springs Trail.  We will hike up the Ancho Canyon/Springs Trail to the Powerline trail.  Then we will cut to the Broken Mesa trail and finish with the Lion Cave Trail.

We will hike approximately 8.5 miles and ascend abotu 1700 ft.  Participants should be prepared for 5-7 hours of hiking with breaks for snacks and lunch.

Participants will be limited to 9 so that the group can stay together.  Rainy or stormy weather will postpone the hike to a later date.

Questions, or to sign up and get meeting place/time information, contact Claire.
