Monthly Slide Shows: Our club's Program Committee is quite active in bringing a variety of presentations to Los Alamos. At our monthly meetings you will see inspiring photos and hear the stories behind them. In addition to featuring personal adventures from local club members, we occasionally feature professional climbers and other speakers on a variety of outdoor and mountain activities. The Mountaineers have toured several of the world's highest peaks, not only from the perspective of professional mountain guides, but also from several club members. We've heard topics ranging from adventure race competitors (e.g. the Eco-Challenge) to photographic exhibits on the Valle Grande National Preserve and Artic National Wildlife Refuge. We've also seen wonderful talks on canyoneering, river rafting, trekking, ice climbing, peak bagging, and more. See for yourself and join us at the
Los Alamos Nature Center (otherwise known as PEEC).
Club Trips: Join your fellow club members on any of the numerous hiking, backpacking, scrambling, rock-climbing, ice-climbing, peak-bagging, skiing, and biking trips offered throughout the year.
Top Roping: Although the club seldom schedules top roping sessions, a community volunteer schedules non-LAM local top roping hosted on our TOP ROPING page. The top-roping sessions are scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday evening from March thru October. This is a great way to stay in shape and meet potential climbing partners.
Climbing School: Learn what technical rock climbing is all about. We will teach you the fundamentals of technical climbing and climbing technique with a strong emphasis on safety. (Registration fee required, fee includes membership if you are not already a member)
Trip Leader Awards: The club will recognize trip leaders as described here.
