In late 2014, Alex had the luck of traveling to Antarctica to go ski mountaineering with a team of friends and a boatful of great people. It really was the trip of a lifetime, and is accessible to everybody. As his journey to this point started on a visit to France, he will be showing photos of skiing and climbing from Chamonix, Argentina and Antarctica.

Annual Los Alamos Mountaineers Potpourri and Holiday Party!

This year, the Mountaineers Potpourri takes place on Wednesday, December 21, starting at 6:30 PM at Fuller's Lodge.

Potpourri is a heavenly stew, consisting of one part potluck and six parts ten-minute talks, simmered slowly in a delicious sauce of conversation and camaraderie. This is by far the most popular Mountaineers meeting of the year. Make your own early New Year's resolution to attend!

Check in at the Membership Table to renew for 2017. Please bring a check or cash - $15 for singles and $20 for couples.

Adventures in the Alps: Mont Blanc and Matterhorn

Several days of acclimatization in the French and Swiss alps were spent climbing peaks and traversing glaciers to prepare for ascents of Mont Blanc and Matterhorn. And, we experienced fabulous weather and good health, and drank quite a bit of Génépi and overidulged on gelato. This talk describes the gorgeous setting and routes for our two weeks of alpine climbing.

On December 25th 2015, Margie Root and Joshua Payne stood on top of Aconcagua, 22,841 feet above sea level after 10 days on the mountain. Margie and Joshua were treated to one of the best Christmas presents a mountaineer could hope for: a nearly 7,000-meter summit with crystal clear, warm, and calm weather! We had an amazing time, made some new friends, and pushed ourselves to the limits.
