This Saturday is Bandelier's signature event - Opera on the Rocks.
This is our second time we're hosting this event, and I anticipate that this year will be even better than last. This performance is by Opera Alta and is Amahl and the Night Visitors. A unique aspect of this opera is that it is in English.
The event is an opportunity for those not familiar with opera, as well as for opera enthusiasts to enjoy listening in a special venue. Children are welcome to attend and the event is intended to be casual and informal. As a special treat, Black Mesa Winery, Don Quixote Winery, and Abbey Brewery will all be on site providing free sample and sales by the glass. Rotary STARS will be there providing cheese trays (for a donation). The Los Alamos High School Choir will also be performing to begin the evenings entertainment.
Transportation is provided to and from the venue by the Los Alamos Atomic City Transit with pick-ups at Sullivan Field in Los Alamos and at the White Rock Visitor Center. Shuttles will begin departing at both locations at 5PM, and there will be a wine tasting from 6-6:15PM, at which time the entertainment will begin. This shuttles are necessary due to to limitations with parking and to support keeping the area quiet and without car lights. We anticipate that the program will be over by 8PM.
This is a special event with all monument entrance fees waived. Tickets for the opera can be purchased online at www.guildsofsfo.org/LA. Prices are $12 per person or $30 family rate (up to 4). Price reduced for opera guild members. Admission to opera is free for those camping at the Juniper Campground.
I promise that everyone will enjoy the event,
Jason
