Exploring Abiquiu Canyons

This trip is currently full and has a waiting list.

I'd like to spend a spring day exploring some of the purported slot canyons in the Abiquiu area that can be found on Doug Scott's web page. We would start with Rim Canyon, then take a quick look at the canyons north of Echo Amphitheater, and if we still have time (unlikely) there is more to be seen in the vicinity. If there is a way to the mesa top from the top end of Rim Canyon, we could explore that way. This will definitely be a free-wheeling, exploratory day. Bring water, lunch, and clothing suitable for any weather conditions. We may be scrambling a bit on the slickrock.

We will leave Los Alamos at 8 AM, stop at Bode's for breakfast burritos, spend the day exploring, and stop for dinner on the way home, probably at the Abiquiu Inn.
