Specialty Course Descriptions,
Dates, Registration and Payments
The 2012 LAM Climbing School is composed of six
sections; the first section is the basic school, and the other sections
are specialty courses that are optional to students of the school,
and free to them if they choose to attend (students
must however 'preregister' with the Climbing School Director).
The specialty
courses are also open to other LAM Members for a fee of $40 each. The
specialty courses are:
-
Introduction to Class 3
Scrambling.
-
Snow and Glacier Mountaineering
Basics.
-
Really Understanding Rock Climbing
Anchors.
-
Introduction to Rock Climbing
Leading.
-
Introduction to Canyoneering
(offered as a course and trip to Zion combination).
The first event of the School will be
the Introduction to Class 3 Scrambling specialty course, beginning
on March 20th. Those who have never climbed before or who have
difficulty hiking steep terrain should take this course prior to the
regular Climbing School. The last event of the School will be our
Canyoneering course offered as a "package deal" in which those who
wish to go to Zion for a Canyoneering trip in September must also
take the specialty course or get permission from the trip leaders.
The Zion trip will be over the Labor Day week.
Registration for
all specialty courses is now open. Registration for the Zion
trip will not
open until May 15th, to give this year's new students a chance to
participate. The Canyoneering course registration is open now.
