The George Irving Bell Leadership Scholarship
Win free tuition for the LAM Climbing School!

In an effort to encourage the next generation of leadership in the local climbing community, The Mountaineers are announcing the George Irving Bell Leadership Scholarship to our annual climbing course. George was among the most renowned members of our club. George and Willie Unsoeld's first ascent of Masherbrum in 1960 is recognized as the iconic image on the LA Mountaineer's logo. 

The scholarship will be awarded to an applicant under the age of 40, willing to serve the Mountaineers for two years as a non-elected board member or in another role to support the objectives of club in the future.
To apply, please send an e-mail to our President (Evan Rose,evan_rose@msn.com) or our Vice President (Michael Altherr,mraltherr1@gmail.com), with a request for consideration of the Scholarship and a short description of how you intend to support the Mountaineers.  The Scholarship will be awarded by the LAM Board and their decision will be final.
