Monthly Program:

From Kilimanjaro To Serengeti

Tue, 2022-07-26

The July 26 Mountaineers meeting will be in-person, with a hybrid adjunct. We hope to expand our meeting with a pre-meeting social time. The presentation will be  “From Kilimanjaro To Serengeti: What I Learned From The Wilds Of Tanzania” by James Wernicke. James writes “7 days. 40 miles. Over 19,000’ of elevation gain culminating at the 19,341’ top of Africa. In January 2022, I shared this adventure with my brother and dad to celebrate his 70th birthday. It is a memory I’ll never forget and a trip that I encourage everyone to experience. I will talk about the route we took, how we prepared for it (and so can you!), how awesome Tanzanians are, how we almost did not make it (multiple times), and some interesting details along the way.”

We welcome all to this Mountaineers’ meeting. Club meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month, starting a 7:00 PM. The presentation will be in-person at Los Alamos Nature Center; the slides will be live-streamed on Zoom. Registration is required and in-person seating is limited. Registration for both in-person or virtual attendance will be via PEEC, and announced soon.
