I'd like to arrange a quick trip to the Valle to try one of their background hikes, the Alamo Canyon out and back (see http://www.vallescaldera.gov/comevisit/hike/hike_routemaps.aspx#alamo). We can drive ourselves to the trailhead with the new system. There will be a fee of $10 for adults, but I believe that the fee is waived for holders of a senior Federal lands pass. We'll leave Los Alamos at noon this Sunday (I have a commitment that occupies my morning), drive up to the preserve, and explore. Please bring a snack, water, rain gear, and whatever equipment you may need if we get cold and wet. The evenings are long, so I'm not guaranteeing a return time - we'll may stay out as late as the Valles folks will let us, but will certainly make it back to Los Alamos for a late dinner. Drop me a line at bill@priedhorsky.net if you are interested. Bill
