Join Evan Rose on a hike from Sullivan Field parking lot to Pajarito Mountain Ski area. This ten-mile trek offers spectacular views of Los Alamos and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the option to enjoy Ullr Fest after the hike, and a ride back to your vehicle by Atomic City Transit.  For the Mountaineers community, this hike is considered moderate.  For the general public, I have ranked it as strenuous due to steep and rocky sections, long distance and the absence of bail-out points.

The route will follow Quemazon Trail, connect with Pipeline Trail and finish by way of the Canada Bonita Trail in the parking lot of Pajarito Mountain ski hill. Participants can enjoy the festival and return to Sullivan Field by way of the Atomic City Transit bus. This is an opportunity to enjoy a long hike at the start of autumn and take in some of the day's festivities. Participants must be capable of the full hike distance (ten miles), altitude (from 7,300 to 9,800 feet) and altitude gain (2,500 feet). There are no bail-out points along the way.

Meet at the nature center parking lot at 7:45 a.m. We will depart from the nature center by 8:00 a.m. Please plan on spending about six hours hiking and allow additional time for the bus and festival (optional). Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring a backpack containing three liters of water, food for the day, rain gear, sunscreen, and a hat. A camera and GPS are optional.
