Let's head to Durango for a winter sports weekend at Purgatory and mountain points beyond. There is plenty of snow up there - 70" base as of February 14 - and possibly more to come. Purgatory offers terrain for beginners to experts, and some of the finest views of any ski area in Colorado. Even better, any of the 3 top Pajarito season passes offer three free days at Purgatory; if you don't have a pass, a Purgatory 3-pack can be had at a reduced price at the Santa Fe REI.  As we have done in past years, we will head for Durango to establish a base in a comfortable house or cabin, and spend our days in winter sports at Purgatory, Molas Pass, or other alpine areas in the vicinity.  Purgatory is a large ski area with 11 lifts and 1,500 skiable acres. There are several snowshoe/XC options. Durango is an fun town with plenty of nice restaurants.

We will drive up early on the morning of Thursday March 2, arriving early enough to put in an afternoon outing before heading back towards town, staying in a rented house for 3 nights. With Friday and Saturday, we will spend a total of 2 1/2 days on winter sports, and will return on Sunday March 5, perhaps squeezing in a morning outing of some sort. Please let me know at bill@priedhorsky.net if you are interested. I would appreciate a $150 deposit to help me make the house deposit. In the past the per person cost has been in the $150-200 range for the weekend, depending on the house and how we fill it. These have been adventuresome weekends in the past, and I expect another.

Our January snow sport weekend in Salida & Monarch was wonderful; let's have another! Note the depth of snow.
