Heidi Rogers is opening her home in the Brazos to be a base for a weekend of snowsports at Cumbres Pass and vicinity.   We will ask participants to volunteer to lead the individual day trips.  Depending on snow conditions, there is beginner and intermediate X-C skiing or snowshoeing at the Edward Sargent's Wildlife Area, just north of the village of Chama.  And there are lots of options for beginner/intermediate/expert X-C and snowshoe tours at Cumbres and La Manga Passes.  The Sargent's area is suitable for lightweight X-C gear (w/o metal edges)  The X-C skiing at Cumbres is more enjoyable with backcountry skis (metal edged).

Want to try out snowshoeing?  Snowshoes and poles can be rented from the Larry Walkup Center (Los Alamos pool) for ~$12 for the weekend.

We will drive up in the late afternoon on Friday February 28, and stay at the house through Sunday, for two days of winter sports, returning Sunday evening. (This could also work for folks who might be interested in a day of skiing at Wolf Creek ski area.)  The per person cost will be ~$25 depending upon the number of participants.   We will organize the group to cook dinner on Sat evening and Sat/Sun mornings together.  Depending upon the group's interests, we will divide up into specific tours/activities for Sat/Sun.

We have 2 rooms with king size beds and a loft with a king, a queen, a singe and two double bunk beds.  Max 10 - 12.  Dogs are allowed, but not too many - check with Heidi on this.  There is parking space available for 4-6 cars; so, we will want to have carpools.

If you are interested (or have questions), send Heidi an email at heidihrogers@me.com
