Epinephrine (Black Velvet Wall) |
Beta Images-1 Images-2 Slide Show
Another brilliant Urioste route at the best sandstone area in the U.S., Epinephrine is a long and varied climb that includes aesthetic and interesting technical chimneys, exquisite face pitches, and exciting scrambling to reach the top, where a big descent awaits. Some parties bivouac, but it can be done comfortably in a day by an efficient party. Older published topos show 18 pitches, but with a 60m rope, it can be done in as few as 9. You will not enjoy the lower part of this route without solid 5.9 chimney technique. A popular climb in its class, it is not yet totally overrun because of its length and sustained nature. |
