Ellingwood Peak North Arête |
Beta Images Slide Show
Widely acknowledged as the best route in the Titcomb Basin area. The Peak is on the maps as Harrower Peak, but climbers continue to refer to it by the original name in honor of the first ascensionist. Albert Ellingwood has his name on another route in this collection, on Colorado's Crestone Needle. This is a dream climb of moderate slabs and cracks on perfect granite. It is set in an area of exceptional beauty - a fairyland of glacier-polished granite slabs, tarn lakes, meadows, and wild flowers. The immediate area is still relatively pristine, but the approach suffers from user overload which is highly exacerbated by horse packing. |
