A 4x4 SUV with high clearance is required for this trip.
Please do not bring dogs on this trip.
On Friday, we will drive to the Uncompahgre Peak trailhead west of Lake City. It's about a 5-6 hour drive (260 miles).
We will start hiking very early (~4AM) on Saturday and summit Uncompahgre Peak. This is a 7.25 mile round trip hike with 3,000 feet of elevation gain. This is a class 2 hike. The views will be spectacular.
We will spend the rest of Saturday and a part of Sunday driving over Engineer and Cinnamon passes, hiking to some peaks, taking photographs of wildflower-filled valleys, and relaxing. We will drive home through Silverton and Durango and arrive in LA on Sunday late PM/evening.
